Master Class Cello Artist

Andres Tucci Clarke grew up in Toronto and began his cello studies at the Dixon Hall Community Centre, he then continued his studies in England and Canada where he received his Masters Degree in Music Performance. While maintaining an active performing career in the Greater Toronto Area Andres is also a passionate teacher. He is a certified Suzuki Teacher as well as a core member of the Sistema Toronto Academy faculty, which is an intensive social development programme that aims to transform the lives of children through the pursuit of musical excellence. It is based on the principles of the El Sistema programme in Venezuela.

Andres has been fortunate enough to study with many amazing musicians including; Paul Marleyn, Simon Fryer, Christina Mahler, Paul Pulford, and David Hetherington. He has also participated in Masterclasses for: Colin Carr, Gregor Horsch, John Kadz, Matt Haimovitz, and Brian Manker.

As a teacher, Andres has taught private cello lessons (both Suzuki and Traditional), group classes, and coached and conducted ensembles from two to forty players.  Passionate about bringing music to school aged children, he has been on faculty of The Sistema Toronto Academy since 2013 and visiting artist and faculty at the Toronto District School Board Downtown Summer Strings Programme since 2007, and a volunteer with them since 2001. Andres is also on faculty at The Toronto School for Strings.

Centred around chamber music, Andres’ musical interests span from the earliest Baroque to the 21st Century and he is continually trying to broaden the scope of his repertoire. He has appeared recently with the Sneak Peak Orchestra (link), Rezonance Baroque Ensemble (link), and the Arabica Trio (of which he is a founding member)

Andres has been a participant in many summer music festivals, notably the Orford Arts Centre (Orford, Québec), Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute (Toronto, Ontario), the Lake District Summer Music Festival (United Kingdom), International Haydn Festival (Montréal, Québec) and Wilfrid Laurier Beethoven Seminar and QuartetFest (Waterloo, Ontraio). He is also an alumnus of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.
