Community art spaces and events are venues and platforms for artists and creative individuals to showcase their talents, skills, and works to the public. Here at Burlington Royal Arts Academy, we love the abundance of artistic experiences we have access to in our community! These spaces and events promote engagement, collaboration, and participation among community members to create an inclusive and vibrant local art scene. Let’s dive into our top 3 Burlington Arts spaces for Summer 2023:
1. VISUAL ARTS: The Art Gallery Of Burlington (AGB)
Community art spaces like the Art Gallery of Burlington provide opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their works. These spaces also offer workshops, classes, and artist residencies to promote artistic growth and development. Did you know there is a living library inside the AGB? The living library is a free space for anyone to step in and start creating. There are tables with collage materials, chalkboards, books and other creative prompts to get you going. Insider tip – they have a great resource called the Art Cart, a take what you need/ leave what you can model for art supplies. Anyone can access papers, stickers, and other creative materials they may need, free of charge!
2. DRAMA: The Burlington Student Theatre
Community theatre programs are a great way to get involved in the performing arts. They provide an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together and learn new skills. Participation in these programs can also help to build confidence and self-esteem. Here in Burlington we have a great student theatre program run by the city through Parks & Recreation. These youth drama programs can be a great way to meet new people and make friends, while also getting the chance to perform in front of an audience.
